Vata is a combination of air and space. As air, it is in constant movement. Vata individuals have many things going on at the same time. The body structure is light.

Vata problems often come with stress and irregular lifestyle. It is difficult to focus when the mind is moving all the time and sleeping problems might occur too.

The best way to balance vata, is to focus on routines; wake up at the same time in the morning and eat regularly. Vata is light and cold. The food should be warm and nourishing. Vata can normally eat sweeter foods like grains. Raw food is often too cold and light for Vata. They need to take care of the weaker body structure and be nourished.
There might be problems with dryness and cracking joints. The digestion is irregular too. Arthritic diseases, like Osteoarthritis (1) and Artritis Rheumatoide are common for Vata. Childhood is a time for Kapha, adulthood time for Pitta and when we get older Vata is more predominant. Age might bring also problems with memory; like Dementia and Alzheimer’s type of dementia (2).
